What is the difference between Pooled and Named Jiwa licences?

Question

There are two licence types - Pooled and Named.  What is the difference between the two and how are they used?

Answer

There are two types of licences - Pooled and Named.  A Named licence requires a username and is consumed when the user with that name logs into Jiwa.  A Named licence can be created and used to ensure a specific user(s) can always get in or can be used to always ensure a utility like PluginSchedulerService always has access and can login. Generally, Pooled licences are issued unless otherwise requested e.g. a client might buy 5 licences and want 4 Pooled (first come first served) and 1 Named licence.

Here is an example of the licences for Jiwa Demonstration database.

As of Jiwa version 7.00.186.00, licencing has changed from concurrent user licencing to per seat licencing. Changes made to the licencing form provide a mechanism to link users to a licence.

Named users are now deprecated.
