How long can I keep using Jiwa version 6 for?

Question

Jiwa version 6 was written decades ago.  How long can I keep using version 6 for, before it will stop?

Answer

Jiwa 6 is written in VB6 which is redundant now.  When Microsoft make an update to their operating systems, sometimes this causes apps written in VB6 to fail.  A failure would mean Jiwa 6 wouldn't run at all.

Microsoft have committed to support applications written using VB6 until 2024.  But there were instances in 2019 when it took Microsoft 3 weeks to release a patch to address failures they caused in application written in VB6.  Those failures didn't affect Jiwa back then, but we believe it's only a matter a time.  Three weeks completely off-line is a long time.  And, after 2024, Microsoft won't release patches to fix these failures at all.

Jiwa Financials is encouraging clients, who are still using Jiwa 6, to start thinking about upgrading now if they have the capacity to do so.
