Problem

Saving changes to a sales order errors with a warning -

"Total of SO_LineDetails.Quantity does not match SO_Lines.QuantitythisDel

Line: 1 Product: Part A Variance: 12.00"

 

Solution

When part numbers and quantities are entered into a sales order, stock is temporarily allocated to the sales order.  When the sales order is saved, stock allocations are checked.  Where there is now insufficient stock available for more or more of the lines, the error is reported detailing the lines in question.  This issue is generally 

There are a couple of work arounds

  • set the Quantity Ordered for the part in error to zero and save.  If this doesn't allow the order to save then

  • change the Order Type to Forward Order and save.  All allocated stock is returned to stock on hand.  Change the Order Type back to Invoice Order and save.  Stock is re-allocated.
