Form Layout & Form Customisation

Ribbon

The Ribbon is your access to preforming different functions in the form you have loaded on your screen – create a new record, print what’s on the screen, search for another record etc.

Main

The ribbon is divided into sections grouped by activity

  • Actions – functions for a user to perform their task

  • Print - configure printers and print the actual record

  • Navigation – scroll backwards/forward, filter and search for records

  • Clipboard - functions like Cut, Copy, Paste

  • Settings - Dock/Undock - enables you to undock/dock and move a form to a second screen
Other Settings – options depend on the form loaded

  • Help - loads the Online Help site which is updated regularly and does not have to be installed separately

Utilities

This tab is where XML import and export can be managed as well as setting permissions at the field level in the form.  Other section is usually functionality implemented via Plugins.

Ribbon Speed Keys

Hovering over the ribbon or toolbar icons shows the function key attached to the icon.  Here is screen display of the keys.  These keys are in accordance with Microsoft standards.

Keyboard Shortcuts

All buttons on the forms have a keyboard shortcut.  They method for using these is by the Alt key.

Click Alt key on your keyboard.  M and U will appear.  M for Main, U for Utilities

Click the M key to access the keyboard shortcuts on the Main tab

Toolbar Display

You have the option of displaying the Ribbon as a Toolbar so you can see more of the form you’re working on.  The icons are the same but smaller and the function speed keys work the same way.  Your choice for Ribbon or Toolbar or both is stored for every form for every user so some forms you can have the Toolbar on display and others the Ribbon.

  • Right mouse click anywhere in the Ribbon and select Toolbar.  You can have both the ribbon and the toolbar visible

  • Right mouse again anywhere in the Ribbon and select Minimise the Ribbon to hide the ribbon and only leave the Toolbar on the screen

Searching

Search Windows

Locating and / or selecting records in Jiwa is done by using the Search Window that’s loaded from the ribbon in each relevant form by clicking the Search icon or pressing F3.  The search option that’s set is stored per user per form.

Search window functionality includes:

  • Ribbon and / or Toolbar

  • [Enter] key jumps to the next column in the criteria grid

  • [Tab] key jumps into the results pane where the arrow keys and Page Up and Page Down scroll through the results

Function Keys in Search

There are function keys in the search window that perform the actions detailed in the screen shot below.

Search Types

- Matches records starting FROM the data keyed in the Match field.  Searching for an inventory item and typing in DEC in the part number field will display all items that start with DEC onwards.

- Matches records starting WITH the data keyed in the Match field.  Searching for an inventory item and typing in DEC in the part number field will display ONLY items that start with DEC.

- Matches records CONTAINING the data keyed in the Match field.  Searching for an inventory item and typing in ‘tube’ in the Description field will display items that CONTAIN ‘tube’ anywhere in the Description field.  Refine the search by entering in more criteria e.g. ‘fluor’ and ‘led’.  Records that contain all three criteria are returned to the grid.  Click on the ‘&’ to change it to ‘O’ and all records that contain the Description ‘tube’ or ‘fluor’ or ‘led’ are displayed.  A really powerful way to search for the item you want.

System-wide Search

The search text box in the bottom left of your Jiwa screen allows you to input any search term for a system-wide search of that term.

Input your search term, then click the search icon. This will open up the Search form and list all possible forms containing that term.  The system-wide Search form can also be launched from the menu: System Settings > Search > Search.

The areas in Jiwa where that are subject to search can be found under the Search Item Maintenance form and include: sales orders, purchase orders, contacts, creditors, BOM, Work Orders, Purchase Invoices, Quotes, Service Manager jobs, Stock Transfers, Supplier Returns, Inventory and so on.
