Jiwa appears to drop its connection to a physical printer

Problem

You have set up your physical printers against your logical printers in Print Group Maintenance, but frequently and over time Jiwa appears to drop the connection.  The column 'Physical Printer Name on This Machine' is blank.

This column is found on the Logical Printers tab of Print Group Maintenance.

Solution

The problem is most likely the result of the IP address of your printer on the network.

  1. The printer should be configured to use a static IP address.

  2. Make sure that the printer’s IP address is outside of the DHCP pool of IP addresses for the network. 

 If there is a wireless network on site even someone’s phone could be taking up the printer’s IP address and causing conflicts.
