Setup a specific printer for each user

The client has multiple printers in use and want to be able to default the closest printer to each user so they don't have to change printers.

Step-by-step guide

Printing is controlled by Print Groups and the easiest way to manage this situation is to create a different group for each user or group of users.

  1. System Settings > Print Group Maintenance

  2. Create printer groups for each user (or group of users) by copying the Default Printer Group and renaming the new group appropriately

  3. Logical Printers tab - select the relevant printer from the Physical Printer Name on This Machine and make sure Default is ticked

  4. System Settings > Staff Configuration > Staff Maintenance

  5. Select a user from the search window

  6. User Settings tab and select that users print group 


     

  7. Save the changes

  8. Repeat as needed
