The Landed Cost module covers import costing and deferred GST but is not restricted to foreign purchases of stock. It can also be applied to purchasing stock locally where additional costs are incurred and are to added to the cost of inventory e.g. buying stock from another state and incurring transport and insurance costs.
The main functions of the module are to:
Allow suppliers who have import costs associated with purchasing inventory to incorporate shipping costs into the inventory
Add import charges to the carrying cost of inventories by allocating the costs over the goods booked-in in four defined ways. (Cost, Quantity, Weight, or Cubic)
Receive consolidated shipments – the system can cater for a simple one-purchase one-supplier scenario through to the consolidation of many purchase orders from multiple suppliers in the one shipment
Provide flexibility allowing known costs to be added to the inventory value at the time of receipt of goods while leaving the shipment open to enable changes and additions to costs to be added when they are known
Create ‘book-in’ documents when unloading containers or trucks and receiving stock into the system with no restriction on how the goods are unpacked into the warehouse
The processing of purchase orders in Jiwa is the same, but each purchase order can be used by either the existing Goods Received Notes and purchasing system or picked up by the Landed Cost system
The Landed Cost system is a shipment-based system where a shipment is a container carrying goods or a truck containing goods, a single purchase order, or multiple purchase orders from the same supplier or different suppliers etc. Each shipment can have goods from multiple suppliers, ordered on multiple purchase orders
